Damien Tscharke wins the inaugural 2014 Emerging Winemakers Award

WINNER: Damien Tscharke / Tscharke Wines

The Public Schools Club (PSC) inaugural Emerging Winemakers awards were held on Saturday 6 September 2014. The invitation only event selected 10 winemakers from ‘boutique style’ wineries sourced from a number of South Australian regions.  The event recognised and promoted the skills and products of young emerging winemakers educated in South Australia, using grapes grown in South Australia.

The winemakers must have studied at a South Australian wine education institution and work with grapes grown in South Australia. The Riedel Trophy winner has their wines included in the PSC Wine Room for one year and on the Club Braggs wine list.

The 2014 Emerging Winemakers Riedel Trophy was awarded to Damien Tscharke as the winemaker who presented a ‘consistent high standard over three wines of differing grape varieties showing the versatility of the winemaker’.

Our Tscharke’s 2012 The Master Montepulciano scored the highest at the awards with 52/60.

Damien was awarded the 2014 Emerging Winemakers Riedel award with the following wines:

2014 Eva Savagnin Frizzante

2012 The Master Montepulciano

2012 Marananga Gnadenfrei Vineyard Shiraz
