Vintage Festival Long Table Lunch

Vintage 2015 draws to a close with another successful Barossa Vintage Festival event.

Over 50 people joined winemaker Damien and wife Eva for the annual Tscharke shared long table lunch, a celebration of the change of season and the end of vintage.

Guests were welcomed with canapés and a glass of 2014 Girl Talk, Savagnin on the lawn before being invited to view and walk through phase one of the new underground barrel store.

Seated in the winery alongside friends, old and new, Damien shared a few insights into some of his favourite varietals and the wines selected to match took guests through some of his favourite wines, paired with five extraordinary dishes courses created by the talented Stuart Oldfield, from Hand Made Catering.
Of course no Tscharke event would be complete without some great story telling, Damien’s sense of humour and passion didn’t disappoint.

Cherry lacquered duckling breast Cavalo Nero, roasted fig and scorched onions
Paired with 2013 Marananga Gnadenfrei Grenache and 2014 Marananga Marananaga Estate Grenache / Mataro

Roasted autumn roots, smoked carrots, pearl barley, fresh tarragon and thyme dressing
Paired with 2014 Marananga Estate Shiraz and 2013 Tscharke The Master Montepulciano

Dry aged premium SA beef, sautéed greens and black garlic
Paired with 2008 MGA Fortune Shiraz

Aged Pyengana cheddar, shiraz poached pears, pecan and thyme bread
Small sweet things to finish (two varieties citrus and chocolate)
Paired with 2007 Lumberjack fortified Touriga
