    • Vintage Notes

Deep soaking winter rains that trickled into spring provided a spectacular start to the growing season. The moist soils minimised the threat of frosts, followed with a mild spring at bud break made for a promising start to an incredible vintage. Despite its dryness, the growing season was relatively mild. Warm days, cool nights and little to no disease pressure gave rise to fruit rich in flavour and naturally high acid, all with relatively modest sugar levels. The wines produced from 2022 will drink well young and many, if allowed, will cellar well to remind us of the great vintage. One of the best vintages in the recent decade.

    • Winemaking

Savagnin and Albariño were harvested on the 9th of February, Grenache Blanc on the 19th of March. All parcels were immediately pressed to tank to settle over 48 hours before racking and inoculation. Fermentation for all components of the blend was slow and cold, aimed at aromatics retention. Once dry the wines were grossly racked and the blend was assembled, 61% Savagnin – 33% Grenache blanc – 6% Albariño. Grenache Blanc, being riper brought richness and tropicality to the blend, an extraordinary new addition to Girl Talk. Once blended, the wine was aged in tank on fine lees for 5 months before being racked, filtered and bottled.

    • Tasting Notes

Pale yellow/green colour. A never-ending bouquet of floral, minerally, citrus and stone fruit. The lifted blossomy and nectarine tones are complemented by chalky, saline and savoury sub-tones. The most subtle sur-lie aging character gives it extra depth. On the palate Girl Talk is precise and fresh, with mouth-watering acidity and a lemon/lime attack. This develops into a lingering finish of fine texture and herbaceous tones. So lively and bright, this is the perfect wine for summer, to share with friends and keep the conversation going…
